#Tutorial 3 : Photography Composition : Joan Version

This Articles was Copied from Joan
Her Articles were in Sabahan BM,so do check this one out y'all.. ^_^.v..

Composition was a very basic knowledge in Photography.. There are so many Composition Style in Photography.. And If You can control these Point, the Focus of your Picture, then,Ur Picture will be WOW!!..

These Rule that have been guiding us was based on scientific research on HOW do Human Eyes react towards PICTURE Focus Point.. That's why,Our Focus need to be where The GOOD Photography Point are.........

owh..fun fact...composition do have MATHS formula...but,I think, there's no one would count which, where position they should be..hehe...That's y,Grid Line were prepare for a basic Guide to Us.....
p/s: all images are from Google Image.

ok, 1st Basic was "Rule Of Third"..
it was a Full Screen Divided into 9 small rectangular same size BOX.....

p/s:Just Imagine : Don't try to sketch this on your Screen.. ^_^.v..

So,try this
1. If the subject was alone, The most powerful point was the left vertical line..

but, there were an excuse if the Picture was read from Right to Left... Like This...

The subject was pointing to left,so,the most powerful point was right vertical line.. Hehehe..

2. If the subject was too many / not alone, the most powerful point was right vertical line...

(credits to www.kidchan.com)

foreground must be bigger than background...
And the most excellent position is the background at the left side, and the foreground at the right side..

3. If it's a single potrait, the eyes should be at the upper horizontal line..and if it's a group potrait, just follow the number 2 rule.

4. If you are taking a landscape photo,it is depend on what U wanna focus...if we want to focus on the land/water, the horizon line should be on the upper horizontal line...

If your focus was the sky, the horizon line should be at the lower horizontal line.....

General Rule:Subject should be taken to the opposite of where he/she/it's pointing their view ..as per example,If the subject is pointing their view to the left, place them at the right vertical line...

2nd Basic was the "Golden Section" + " Golden Spiral"..
Almost the same wtih the Rule of third, but the size of the box were different..
as per shown down there..
...

The crossed line point is where the golden point of your picture shown....and those spiral will lead Our Eyes to the subject of the picture..

3rd Basic are "Diagonal Rule"..this one were still using line..but..divide the picture to TWO section then each half divided to three part..Just like this...

there are two option, one was diagonally slanting to the left, and then the other one to the right

According to this rule, every strong point of our picture should be in this line...those linear element such as road, river or fence were the most suitable to use this rule, put it in this line for it to look more dynamic and energetic....

4th Basic .."Golden Triangle"...A simple line just like this....

The method of using it...roughly place 3 subject that estimated same size with this 3 part ...

So,that's all for now.. Actually, there are so many composition rule in photography, but these were the basic..We are learning everyday,So,this basic were Used even by the Pro...So,If you have anything to share, please do..

If you have master those composition rule, Don't worry to SOMETIMES BREAK THE RULE...
